can cats eat eggCan cats eat egg shells?

Every time I make eggs, I throw the shells in the sink. (Anything that goes in the sink is pure amazement to my cat.) And she jumps up, and grabs the egg shell and runs. I have to take it away from her so many times.

Is it ok if I just let her play with it? I'm not really sure if she eats it, she does lick it and play with it a little. Is that ok? As long as she doesn't eat it, or is that ok too?
My cat eats birds eggs, shell and all. God only knows what else she eats. Anyway; she has never really suffered any ill effects from the practise. From what I've been able to observe she crunches them up pretty good before swallowing. And my vet has assured me that the acids in her digestive system will break down the shells before they pass into her bowel.

BTW - you really should break the cat of that jumpingcan cats eat egg up on the counter thing. Not very sanitary when you consider they bury their poop with their feet.
she is probably liking the raw egg off it as long as the eggs are good and no chance of bacteria i would say it is OK i work at a pet store and people are starting to feed their cats raw diets if you watch her carefully to make sure it dos not upset her stomach also if you grind up the shells and ad it to wet cat food it is the best calcium substitute even for you you can use it as a calcium substitute to
Don't, she either likes to chew on them or trying to lick out the inside. Either way, she could cut her throat, stomach, or intestines (I am not sure how long it would take to digest them IF she can digest them), and you may end up with a very sick kitty. Dispose of them before she has a chance to get at them.can cats eat egg Used coffee cans hold pretty well, if you have some of those just toss them in there and put the lid on right away.

If you can't eat it, the cat probably can't eat it. The cat can't eat a lot of what we eat, and may handle a couple things better. Just stick to cat food and real cat toys!
I would advice you to take away the egg shells from her. Even smaller and broken down egg shells still have sharp edges and may injure her internal organs if accidentally swallowed down. Just ask yourself this... would your spend a few minutes to get that back from her or would you spend hundreds on her in case she hurts herself internally?
it might irritate her throat.
i don't think it's 100% safe for them. It can scratch their throught or the kitty might choke on it.
